Typecity Wall Projection

This is a shot of the final version of Typecity Vancouver projected on a wall. It was cold, rainy, but totally worth it to see the projects displayed in this medium. In the next few weeks, the projects will be taken to a location with a larger wall area. There is also the potential to use a smoke machine or some dry ice to view the image.

Typecity Vancouver - more done

Here's a screen shot of some further progression with the Typecity Vancouver project. It's starting to take shape with a lot of the major areas done.

Typecity Vancouver

I've been working on a project called Typecity. The project involves constructing a Vancouver landmark building using the letters of a typeface. The restraints include not being able to stretch, scale, or shear any of the letter forms. The building I chose is the Pacific Central Station on 1150 Station Street in Vacouver. It's right next to the skytrain station on Terminal avenue. The architectural style of the building is Neoclassical revival so I chose the typeface Didot, as this is considered part of the Neoclassical period. I still have a ways to go, but when this is completed, it will most likely be on a black background with white type.
