30 Essential Typefaces for A Lifetime by Joshua Berger and Imin Pao shows the effective use of typefaces in design. There was a limited amount of information provided for each typeface, however, it was just enough to learn a little about the history and purposes. The focus of this book is to show examples of how the typefaces are used in posters, packaging, web, and a number of other scenarios. The section in the beginning of the book, living 24 hours without Helvetica, was memorable and shows the important role that this typeface plays in our daily lives.

For Akzidenz Grotesk, Helvetica, and Univers, are there times to use one and not the other? These three typefaces are very similar.
Akzidenz Grotesk - large signage, all purpose font for print media
Helvetica - large or small text, all purpose typeface
Univers - packaging, signage, and textbooks
